Ron Cihuatán Folklore Selección Nórdica is a 17-year-old single barrel rum from El Salvador. Selección Nórdica received a finish in an ex-Cognac barrel made of French oak and was exclusively bottled for Denmark & Sweden. The single barrel is limited to 241 bottles.

The enchanting legends of the Mayan cosmovision have driven Ron Cihuatán to write their story in the crafting of rum. The Cihuatán Folklore Collection is born out of this spirit. It highlights Cihuatán’s unique journey as a distillery, lef by their master blender Gabriela Ayala.
Creation, in the Mayan worldview, depended on a pair of entities coming together, such as the two-headed Plumed Serpent, heaven (Ilhuicatl) and the underworld (Xibalba).
Inspired by the Mayan concept of duality and creation, Master Blender Gabriela Ayala set out to showcase the duality and sinergy between rum and barrel.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Sweet and warming notes of vanilla, caramel and cooked fruits enter the nose. The nose is getting more intense when a few drops of water are added and reveals notes of roasted almonds.
Palate: Strong and intense at first with aromas of spicy oak, mint chocolate and almonds. Subtle notes of cherry sauce and tobacco leaves emerge when water is added.
